Адвокати мотивират мнението си с факта, че в полза на подсъдимия няма нито едно смекчаващо вината обстоятелство, което да даде основание на съда да определи по-леко наказание.

Престъплението е извършено с особена жестокост, направено е всичко възможно за прикриване на следите, изградено е фалшиво алиби за нощта на убийството, няма и самопризнания.

До края на идната седмица процесът, който започна на 7 февруари в окръжния съд в Пазарджик, ще приключи.

Във вторник Колев ще се изправи пред 5-членния съдебен състав, за да направи изявление. Той отказа да стори това преди седмица с мотив, че му трябва време да се подготви, пише в. "24 часа".

Веднага след обясненията му започват пледоариите на окръжния прокурор на Пазарджик Димитрия Ганчева, на адвоката Иво Найденов, който представлява семейство Белнейски, и на Марин и Димитър Марковски, които защитават Лазар.

От февруари 2009 г., когато му е повдигнато обвинението за убийството на сестрите, Лазар Колев категорично отрича да е познавал, срещал, изнасилвал и убивал двете сестри и не се признава за виновен. Такова бе становището на неговите адвокати по време на целия съдебен процес и на тази база бе изградена и тяхната защитна тактика. Според Марин Марковски срещу клиента му няма пряко доказателство, че той е извършител на убийствата, а всички са косвени, и затова трябва да бъде оправдан.
